RoomTone is a mobile app that analyzes the acoustics of your room. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what we don't do with it.
What We Collect
In the App
- Room type — the category you select (living room, bedroom, office, etc.) so we can score your room against the right baseline.
- Acoustic scan data — a short frequency response measurement captured during a scan. Processed on-device. Raw audio is never recorded, stored, or uploaded.
- Device model — to calibrate microphone sensitivity. Different phones have different microphone characteristics.
- Anonymous usage events — things like “scan completed” or “recommendation tapped,” with no personally identifiable information attached.
On the Website
- Email address (optional) — if you sign up for launch notifications. Stored by our email provider, Buttondown. Unsubscribe anytime. Never shared.
- Website analytics (anonymous) — aggregate page views and referral sources only. No cookies. No individual tracking.
What We Don't Collect
We do not collect your name, email address (in the app), location, contacts, photos, voice recordings, or any other personally identifiable information through the app.
Audio is processed on-device and never uploaded to our servers. We do not sell data to third parties. We do not use ad-network tracking (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel).
How We Use What We Collect
Data we collect is used only to:
- Provide the acoustic scoring service
- Improve scoring accuracy over time (anonymous, aggregated)
- Understand how the app is used and make it better
- Send product updates if you subscribed to our newsletter
Affiliate Links
The app may recommend acoustic treatment products based on your scan results. Some links are affiliate links — we may earn a small commission if you purchase through them. This does not affect the price you pay or which products we recommend.
Children's Privacy
RoomTone is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, email us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
